Safe Walking Routes

Students are encouraged to use the following safe walking routes as established by the school’s Safe Walking Route Committee. Parents are encouraged to review this material with their children.

Jordan Highlands

Use subdivision sidewalks to Parr Drive or Edinburgh Lane. These streets lead to Grizzly Way. Use crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Pebblewood Subdivision

Use subdivision sidewalks to Old Creek Road and access Grizzly Way. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Pebblecreek Subdivision

Use subdivision sidewalks to 8900 South and access Grizzly Way. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Mountain Vista Subdivision

Use subdivision sidewalk to 8710 South or 8900 South and access Grizzly Way. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Sunset Park Estates Subdivision

Use subdivision sidewalks to 4800 West, then to Edinburgh Lane, which accesses Grizzly Way. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Lone Peak Estates Subdivision

Use 4800 South or neighborhood sidewalks to access Parr Drive or Edinburgh Lane. Use Parr Drive or Edinburgh Lane to Grizzly Way. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Dorilee Acres Subdivision

Access 4800 West on sidewalks from Dorilee Drive or 8730 South. Use cross walk at 4800 South and Dorilee Drive. Proceed to sidewalks on Parr Drive or Edinburg Lane to Grizzly Way. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Whispering Pines Subdivision

Access 4800 West on sidewalks from 8870 South. Cross 4800 South at Jordan Hills Elementary or Dorilee Drive. Proceed on Parr Drive or Edinburgh Lane to Grizzly Way. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Wheatridge, Copper Hills Estates #1 and #2, and Cobble Creek Subdivision

Use sidewalks within your subdivision to access Grizzly Way.

Copper Hills Estates #3 and #4 Subdivision

Use sidewalks within subdivision to access New Bingham Highway. Proceed on Sidewalk along the side of the Highway to Grizzly Way. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Wildflower Acres

Use sidewalks within subdivision to Wild Acres. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at the intersection of Wild Acres and 90th South. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Marketplace Subdivision and Sunset Ridge Apartments

Use Neighborhood sidewalks to access 90th South. Proceed on 90th South to Grizzly Way. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway. Those students who live on the North side of the Marketplace Subdivision could also walk on the sidewalk on the South side of New Bingham Highway and use the crossing guards at Grizzly Way. Students should never cross New Bingham Highway at 5600 West.

Vista Meadow Park and Bingham Subdivisions

Use sidewalks in subdivision to 9070 South or Harkness to access 4800 West. Cross 4800 West at 90th South, or Jordan Hills Elementary. Proceed on sidewalks to Parr Drive or Edinburgh to Grizzly Way. Use the crosswalk and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Courtney Meadows Subdivision

Use 4370 West to access Old Bingham Highway. Walk along Old Bingham Highway to the sidewalks on 4800 West. Cross 4800 West at 90th South or Jordan Hills Elementary. Proceed to sidewalk on Parr Drive or Edinburgh Lane to Grizzly Way. Use the crosswalks and crossing guard at New Bingham Highway.

Stone Hollow

Walk on sidewalks in subdivision to Amethyst. Proceed west on Amethyst to Grizzly Way. Walk on east side of Grizzly Way. Use crossing guards to cross Grizzly Way to marked crosswalk.

Bloomfield Farms

Use the crosswalk with pedestrian flags at the Southwest corner of West Hills to cross 5600 West and enter the Southwest gate behind the Middle School.

Island Park

Use neighborhood sidewalks to Grizzly Way. Use sidewalk on west side of Grizzly Way to West Hills Middle School. Students may also use sidewalks along Island Park Dr. to the community path that leads east to a new gate in the fence bordering the north parking lot of West Hills Middle.

Parents who drive their students to West Hills Middle School should take advantage of the drop off zones on the north and south sides of the building. Be cautious in the 20 mph zone and near the crosswalks.

Parents are encouraged to assist students in planning safe walking routes from their homes to West Hills Middle School using these guidelines and maps. Students who cross the New Bingham Highway at points other than designated crosswalks are putting themselves at great risk.

Parents of students who qualify for bussing should take advantage of these services. We discourage students who qualify for these services from walking an unsafe route.
